Evangelical Principles for Immigration Reform
Influential evangelical Christians across America are uniting to call on Democrats and Republicans to lead our nation to a bipartisan solution on immigration.
Never before has a coalition of evangelicals come together from such a diverse political and theological spectrum on this issue. While politicians in Washington argue about enacting sensible and fair immigration reform, families continue to struggle economically and children live in fear of their parents being taken away from them. As evangelicals, we know this is morally unacceptable, but our elected officials have refused to act.
Now, hundreds of evangelical leaders from across the theological and political spectrum have issued a call for a bipartisan solution on this issue that:
- Respects the God-given dignity of every person
- Protects the unity of the immediate family
- Respects the rule of law
- Guarantees secure national borders
- Ensures fairness to taxpayers
- Establishes a path toward legal status and/or citizenship for those who qualify and who wish to become permanent residents
I’ve signed the statement because I know that people’s lives depend on fixing our broken immigration system. But getting Congress to act will require others to speak up.
