Update December 14, 2011
Revitalizing TCAMP!
Beginning in January, TCAMP will meet at a new regularly scheduled time every other month. The network will meet from noon-1:30 on the second Thursday of every other month (except in the summer).
Here are the 2012 dates:
January 12, Noon-1:30 at Wooddale Church, Eden Prairie. “Trends You Need to Know: Changes and developments in cross cultural missions; The 4-14 Window, Business As Mission, Missions to Diaspora Peoples, Reaching Global Cities, and Technology for Missions.”
March 8, Noon-1:30 at North Heights Lutheran, Arden Hills. “Justice & Compassion in Evangelical Missions.”
May 10
September 13
November 8
New Time: TCAMP meeting times will change slightly, beginning at noon and ending at 1:30. They will still be “brown bag” lunches (so bring your own meal) and the host sites (TBA) will provide beverages and desserts.
Our Purpose: TCAMP seeks to deliver two important values to local churches and global missions leaders:
- Connect mission leaders to add momentum to the global missions movement. The Twin Cities is privileged to have a strong, collaborative missions community. Few other US cities have such a community.
- Support the professional development of mission movements by sharing best practices and opportunities for learning. TCAMP serves as a professional peer network for mission leaders from church staffs, mission committees, field workers and other ministry entities.
TCAMP Covenant
Anyone is welcome to come and participate in TCAMP meetings. Here are expectations that we all agree to:
- Meetings are for the purpose of learning, contributing and staying connected. Don’t come to fundraise or promote your own agenda.
- It is important that as mission leaders we stay connected to each other and support the expansion of Gods Kingdom everywhere. We meet only 5 times each year; if you are involved in the network try to attend each meeting.
Steering Team / Transform Minnesota
Transform Minnesota facilitates the TCAMP network by managing a communication list, coordinating the schedule and sending meeting announcements. We rely on a steering team of mission pastors to guide program development and coordinate each specific topic or presentation.
Contact us at TCAMP@TransformMN.org or call Carl Nelson at 612-243-2941
Currently that steering team includes
Kim Sollie, Missions Director at North Heights Lutheran Church
Dan Woodbury, missions lay leader at the Mills Church, and staff at David C Cook Communications
Herb Janes, missions lay leader at New Hope Church
Mark Bendell, Pastor of Missions and Outreach at Westwood Community Church
Tim Hatt, Pastor of Kingdom Expansion at Hosanna! Lutheran Church
Carol Buchannan, Wooddale Worldwide
UPDATE 9-8-2011
TCAMP is on “sabbatical” for the fall of 2011.
Over the past couple years we’ve learned a lot about what God’s doing around the world, had wonderful presenters and formed new connections with other Christians.
But at the same time there is a sense that we need to use this network more effectively to add value to the missions movement of the Twin Cities. So TCAMP is taking a “sabbatical” for the fall of 2011 while a steering team of mission pastors discuss how to improve upon the format of this network, identify critical topics to discuss in 2012 and recruit experts and presenters for next year.
We are fortunate to have such a robust missions movement in the Twin Cities and the knowledge learned and relationships formed at each TCAMP meeting have shaped a generation of mission leaders. TCAMP will continue in January 2012, so watch for emails from us (sign up at lower-right corner of this site) and watch this site for announcements.
TCAMP is the Twin Cities Association of Mission Professionals, a learning network of pastors, ministry leaders, and lay people who meet monthly to exchange ideas, resources and information related to the Great Commission.
Guests are welcome to attend, no reservation required. Bring your own lunch.
